GOVT DEGREE COLLEGE
Government Degree College Kaljikal was established in 2021 with the goal of providing higher education easily for rural areas. College is based in the magnificent and serene location of district Pauri Garhwal, nestled in the valley surrounded by pines and deodar forest. This College is situated at a distance of 25 km on Kandoliya Teka Road of Pauri City along with evergreen deodar and burans trees.
Pauri City is the headquarters of District Pauri and Pauri provides a panoramic view of the snow-covered Himalayan peaks of Nanda Devi and Trisul, Gangotri Group, Nilkantha, Banda-Poonch, Swargrohini,Kedarnath, Chaukhamba etc. The town is visited by tourists, researchers, and students from across the world.
The college is affiliated with Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, Badshahithol, Tehri (Garhwal), and started with the art stream namely-BA in the beginning and got started in Nov 2021 with an intake of 12 students in BA first year.
The government of Uttarakhand sanctioned BA courses in 6 subjects :
- Hindi
- English
- Economics
- Political Science
- History
- Sociology.
College got started on the left premises of Block Office Kaljikhal and later the land for the construction of the college building was identified near Kaljikhal town on Mundeshawer temple road. Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Uttarakhand Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat on 24 May 2023 inaugurated the work of construction of the building for the college. Very Soon college will have its main building, Administrative Block, and classrooms.
At present, there are 43 students in college mostly girls of rural, economically backward backgrounds.
